de la Cruz Collection Residency

The de la Cruz Collection, a new space in Miami's Design District exhibiting the personal collection of Rosa and Carlos de la Cruz, has inaugurated a residency program inviting artists to Miami for a period of 4 -6 weeks. SculptureCenter will collaborate with the de la Cruz Collection and select participating artists for the first year. There are no specific production or presentation requirements however it is expected that artists will use the occasion to further their work. The residency is an opportunity for artists to explore the history, culture and natural resources of South Florida but also an opportunity to connect with the diverse and active art community of Miami. The de la Cruz Collection residency is by invitation only. As of fall 2010, participating artists include: David Brooks, Valentin Carron, Xavier Cha, Corey McCorkle, Ohad Meromi, and Jude Tallichet
Framing Sculpture
Framing Sculpture asks key contemporary artists what sculpture is to them, and which concepts, historical precedents, and themes drive their work. The series uses sculpture as a point of departure for the artists to talk about their creative perspectives, their process, and their interests.
