    aCCeSsions Launch Event

    Fri, Nov 6, 2015, 7–9pm

The Center for Curatorial Studies, Bard College, is pleased to announce the launch of their student-led online journal, aCCeSsions. Please join us for an event at SculptureCenter to celebrate its launch, featuring performances by Deanna Havas and Puppies Puppies as well as a digital tour of the newly launched aCCeSsions website.

Conceived, commissioned, and produced by students in the MA Curatorial Studies program, and designed in close collaboration with Other Means, aCCeSsions promotes curating as a basis for engaging with knowledge and practices outside of art and exhibition-making and for the transdisciplinary investigation of what curatorial praxis could be.

Published online at aCCeSsions.org, the journal is characterized by a dynamic biannual publication cycle in which each issue is conceived, launched, and completed. Issues will be initially published with commissions on the central topic from artists, theorists, and others, which are open to public response while the issue is live; selected responses will then be incorporated into the final archived edition. With this structure, aCCeSions will at once continually convey the changing collective interests and demands of the emerging curators at CCS Bard and also generate discourse and collaboration among a broader field of practitioners.

The inaugural issue, The Art World is Normal, addresses the conditions of an unevenly globalized art world within the current state of perpetual crisis more broadly, confronting an "eventlessness" which flattens cultural difference and empties out potential for transformational change.
